History: rope through the centuries
Tell me more: Deepen your theoretical and historical understanding of Japanese rope bondage, shibari and kinbaku. Learn about key periods in history, important people and events, and trace the development through to our understanding in the modern day.
Pre-requisites: None, except interest and a curious mind
Description: This workshop will take a chronological journey through the history and development of Japanese rope bondage – also called Shibari and Kinbaku – with the intention of surfacing some of the key myths, legends, historical figures and developments over the centuries. A thematic and theoretical chronology will be overlaid, eventually placing our modern interpretations in artistic, ethical and chronological contexts.
