Without anything more than the first basic knots, we will explore and challenge both rigger and model through themes such as predicament, intimacy, exposure and more, using floor-based ties.
Description: This course focuses on ties which are floor-based. Participants will be equipped with the theory and practical knowledge required to delve deeper on their rope journey without recourse to suspensions. It is suitable for beginner level and beyond, covering soft skills such as safety, theory and consent as well as patterns and skills such as ties for legs and bodies, some pressure positions and torsions, and varying degrees of intimacy depending on the relationships and intentions of the tying partners.
Pre-requisites: As a minimum you will need to be able to tie a safe single and double column tie, frictions, and rope-joining hitches. You will have learned all this in our beginner course.
Awareness of own and partner’s limitations, boundaries and preferences. Ability to communicate safely and clearly with each other. Safety, curiosity, consent and respect are expected throughout.
There will be time for reflection between ties, and as the title implies this workshop will involve intimacy – no matter how participants define this, they must ensure they are comfortable with the level of intimacy with their partner. All ties are optional, and if a couple needs to sit out for any reason we ask them to quietly respect the space of others.

Teaching method
We will begin each tie with a demonstration including alternatives that can be used, depending on the comfort and experience levels of the tying partners.
Each demonstration will include open-ended options for participants to add and develop in accordance with their own boundaries, intentions and profiles.
During all ties, we will encourage you to look for alternative solutions and guide you if needed.
We will support you at all times.
