Workshops: Part, day or weekend
Of Ropes & Words
Tell me more: The stories we tell with the ropes we tie… and the words – spoken or otherwise – that accompany this
Description: This workshop will take a didactic view of the Yukimura style of rope. Participants will be introduced to the history and theory of the master, before several demonstrations and practicals. Students will be guided throughout, and alternatives will be presented and/or suggested in accordance with the experience level, boundaries and intention of those attending.
Pre-requisites: Ability to tie a safe, stable gote or other chest harness. Knowledge of single, double column ties. Ability to tie a safe upline with secure lock-off.
Other patterns will be demonstrated, and students can be guided as necessary.
You must have an awareness of your own and your partner’s limitations, boundaries and preferences. Ability to communicate safely and clearly with each other is essential. There will be emotional intimacy in this workshop, and participants are expected to contribute to the creation of a space which is as safe and open as possible.
