Workshops: Part, day or weekend
Turning up the twist
Tell me more: We first “catch” our partner, and then “twist” them with some delicious torsions
Pre-requisites: As a minimum you will need to be able to tie a safe single and double column tie, frictions, and rope-joining hitches. You will need to be able to tie and control safe, stable uplines if suspending. For part B the ability to independently tie a two-rope gote, arm binder (or similar alternative) will enable you to follow the full demonstration if desired. We will encourage you to look for alternative solutions and guide you if needed.
Awareness of own and partner’s limitations, boundaries and preferences. Ability to communicate safely and clearly with each other. Safety, curiosity, consent and respect are expected throughout.
Participant Development
What will I learn?
Agenda
Part A is “Catch Of The Day” – an exploration of floor-based endurance ties
Part B is “Baskets of Fun!” – an exploration of seme-style basket ties, with optional (semi-) suspensions and transitions depending on the experience level of the tying partners.
Please bring
Suitable clothing, safety shears
Minimum 6 lengths of rope (6-10m each, as needed), preferably 8 lengths of rope
Minimum 2 carabiners
Hardpoint such as ring, or suspension sling + carabiner
Teaching method
We will begin each tie with a demonstration including alternatives that can be used, depending on the comfort and experience levels of the tying partners.
Each demonstration will include open-ended options for participants to add and develop in accordance with their own boundaries, intentions and profiles.
We will support you at all times.
Learning outcomes
A deeper awareness of the construction of the patterns explored, including the theory and practicalities. More profound understanding of the ties from both sides of the rope.
Emotional and physical learning.
